В Вооруженных силах США приговор военного трибунала может быть в ряде случаев обжалован в Военно-апелляционном суде США Court of Military Appeals. В США существуют разновидности военного трибунала: общий военный трибунал general court-martial, рассматривающий дела о любых преступлениях, совершенных военнослужащими; специальный военный трибунал special court-martial и суммарный военный трибунал summary court-martial, обладающие ограниченной юрисдикцией
